About the Program
In this 6-week self-paced course, you'll deepen your understanding of culturally appropriate pregnancy care for Indigenous individuals and their families. Organized into four comprehensive modules, the course offers a structured yet flexible learning experience, allowing you to progress at your own pace. Each module includes an accompanying workbook with exercises to expand your understanding and practical tools to apply what you've learned.
To reinforce your learning, a suggested project plan is included, guiding you through a compilation of insights and self-reflections. This project serves as a capstone, helping you synthesize key concepts and develop a personal approach to fostering culturally respectful relationships in prenatal and postpartum care. By the end of the course, you'll have a stronger awareness of cultural considerations and how to integrate them into your practice.
The knowledge you gain will contribute to more culturally safe pregnancy care within Indigenous communities. By exploring the importance of cultural safety and enhancing your communication and care practices, you'll be better prepared to create supportive environments that respect traditional birthing knowledge and promote positive health outcomes for mothers and babies. This program is not just about learning—it's about growing in understanding and making meaningful contributions to the families you support.
